Our Reinvestments Lift Up The People & Places Impacted By Exploitation

And hold the people who do harm accountable

We believe that human potential is the world’s greatest resource, and that every person has a fundamental right not just to the pursuit of their own potential, but to the results of that pursuit, too. Which is why, when we look at trafficking cases, we do not see just one victim, but entire communities that have been impacted by exploitation. That’s why we reinvest in both people and places. Here are a few ways our reinvestments work:

Community Development

  • Economic empowerment and skills-development programs for communities most at risk of being trafficked

  • Counseling and support for victims of trafficking

  • Education investment for children of trafficked parents

  • Incubation of on-the-ground anti-trafficking teams led by locals

We pursue three goals for reinvestment :

  • The people who traffick in our fellow humans utilize social, economic and psychological risk points in order to gain entry to people and communities who they later manipulate or coerce into trafficking. Their tactics are ever-evolving to meet the constraints of the environments in which they work. We invest in idea and capacities that help the anti-trafficking movment stay ahead of those who do harm.

  • When a person’s potential has been exploited out of their control for months or years, they, their families, and their communities often suffer from a lack of resources to regain a fulfilling life. We reinvest to help people get on their feet, cope with the trauma they endured, and contribute to the communities they care about.

  • Government policies can both directly and indirectly affect the victims and perpetrators of trafficking. From criminal justice policies that ensure victims are not unduly punished for things they were coerced into doing, to trade, labor, and immigration policies that affect how human potential is leveraged around the world, we work to educate policymakers in best practices.
